Roger Allen Bembeneck 54, of Copemish, passed away Monday, July 23, 2012 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Roger was born in Traverse City on January 17, 1958, the son of Thomasine (Hamp) and Robert A. Bembeneck. He attended Traverse City schools, graduating in 1976 from Central High School.
Roger has been employed in the shipping department at Sara Lee for 34 years. He enjoyed playing hockey and was a Red Wings fan. He loved to hunt and enjoyed a variety of water activities - diving, sailing and swimming. Roger had a gift for mechanics, disassembling, rebuilding and refurbishing items. He was a member of the Benzie Sportsman's Club and attended West Side Community Church. His greatest joy was time spent with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Emily of Ann Arbor, Joshua of Copemish and Alicia of Traverse City and his grandchildren Adrian, Tristan, Aidan, Nadia, Kiley and soon to arrive, Emma. Also surviving is his father, Robert of Traverse City; his siblings, Barbara Ann (Ronald) Brightman of Tampa, Ronald of Ann Arbor, Debra (Rodney) Homan of Traverse City, Lynn (Richard) Koch of Fishers, IN and his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. His very good friends Bob Andresen and Carl Case, as well as many other friends survive as well. Roger was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Russell.
Visitation will take place beginning at 2 p.m. Friday, July 27 at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Memorial services will begin at 3 p.m., also at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Brayton officiating.
As Roger lives on through his gift of organ donation through Gift of Life, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Roger's name be sent to Gift of Life or to the Father Fred Foundation.
