Roger Lougheed, 77, passed away March 22, 2021, with his beloved bride Nancy by his side.
He was born on November 8, 1943 to the late George and Maysie (McKay) Lougheed in Sault Ste Marie, MI. He was the youngest of five children. He is now reunited with his siblings; Dorothy (Fredrick Hopkins), Edith (Ken Wurm), Georgia (Richard Bell) and Jack (Edith Priest).
Roger proudly served his country in the United States Army and will be honored with formal military rights at the time of his interment.
He spent his career as a banker in Traverse City, Glen Arbor and Suttons Bay, and loved living in this area, since 1951.
Roger had many interests; biking, cross-country skiing, working out, kayaking, doting over his beloved pup, running, boxing and of course traveling. The trips that he and Nancy took were often ones you would read about in a fairytale. They traveled across the globe, always hand in hand and excited for the next adventures that awaited them.
He was a faithful member of the East Bay Calvary Church where he and Nancy enjoyed the deep friendships made within their church family.
Whether it was a nice relaxing evening on the deck, a small gathering of friends for dinner, or taking an extended weekend in France, he was a man of passion, love, enthusiasm for all new things and someone that always had a zest for life. Everyone will miss his quick wit and distinctive laugh.
Roger leaves behind his wife Nancy, son Ryan (Nora), four grandchildren and; 7 Nephews and 3 Nieces.
A gathering to honor Roger will take place on Friday May 21, 2021 at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The event will take place outside in the gardens so please dress accordingly. A time to gather and remember begins at 11:00 am with a formal service conducted by Pastor Brian Conover to begin at noon. There will be a time to visit in the garden after the service, with a light lunch provided.
