Roger Albert Rakowski, 66, of Traverse City, passed away May 27, 2018 at Tower Hill AFC. Roger was born August 3, 1951 in Traverse City to the late Albert and Frances (Crouch) Rakowski. Growing up, Roger loved to spend time with his family. He completed special education at TCAPS. He attended and was employed by GTI until he retired in 2017. Roger loved the holidays, his record albums, a classic Western movie and a good cold Budweiser. He was kind beyond measure, a prankster of sorts and had a smile that would light up the room. He had a true unconditional love for humanity and would do anything to help. He is survived by one brother, Terry Barnes of Oregon, a sister, Lorna Alger of Traverse City and his second family at Tower Hill AFC, his nieces Holly Alger and her daughter Mikayla, Janet Deonoyer(Josh) Emily and Cooper, Nephew Nate Alger (Amy) Keegan and Maddy. Roger always referred to Nate as "Nathan the cop". A funeral service with visitation to honor Roger's life will take place Tuesday June 5, 2018 at 11:00am with the visitation one hour prior at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Roger's final resting place will be at the Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
