Obituary

MAPLE CITY —
Roman A. Skipski, 82, of Maple City, passed away at his home on Jan. 6, 2011. Roman was born on Sept. 30, 1928, at his home in Maple City, to the late William and Helen (Masloski) Skipski.
On July 9, 1955, Roman married the former Joan Baggs. Together they shared 55 wonderful years.
Roman worked for Burwood Products as a Machinist and Die Maker for 48 years.
In his spare time he enjoyed spending time wood working in his garage, watching Gene Autry westerns, and cheering on his beloved Detroit Pistons and Tigers. He was very proud of his acre-size garden.
Above all else, Roman loved spending time with his family. He looked forward to the yearly family reunion and the raising of the Polish flag.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; his children, Barbara Lee (Steve Rife), Carolyn (Rob) Morrissey, Elaine (Kevin) Butler, Becky (Sean) Roosevelt and Tim (Janis) Skipski; grandchildren, Zac (Julie) Adams, Michael Morrissey, Jamie (Matt) O'Connell and Megan Morrissey; and sisters, Irene Rozycki and Proxes (Stanley) Garvin.
Roman was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph, Aloyze, Edward, Andrew and Steven; and sisters, Sophie, Theresa, Regina and Catherine.
Visitation for friends and family will be today, Jan. 9, 2011, at St. Rita's in Maple City, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recitation at 7 p.m. Father Bill Lipscomb will preside over the Mass of Christian Burial, which will also be held at St. Rita's, on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at 11 a.m.
