Obituary

Ron Martin of Kingsley, Michigan, age 71, passed away at Munson Medical Center on August 23, 2022, with his family by his side.

Ron was born in Detroit to the late George and Helen (Kruso) Martin on September 3, 1950.

As a young man, Ron proudly and courageously served his flag and country in the U.S. Army earning an Air Medal and Bronze Star with the 1st Battalion of the 7th Calvary Division in the Vietnam War. This was also known as Custer's Regiment. He bravely fought in the Cambodia Incursion, and was honorably discharged in September 1970.

Ron was a member of the local Masonic Lodge and American Legion Post 436. He always enjoyed the company of family and friends. Ron loved gatherings, parties, hosting and entertaining. You could often find him enjoying the finer things in life—golfing, boating, smoking cigars with a good drink in hand. When it was time to relax, Ron mowed the lawn. Something he called a, "therapeutic recreation."

Ron loved watching football, baseball, and hockey and loved most of the Michigan teams. Apart from watching sports, through the years, Ron played baseball, hockey, bowling and continued baseball in the senior leagues.

Ron was a wonderful husband, proud father and grandfather, dear brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

Ron is survived by his wife Rose Martin; children Ronda (Bob) Meyer, Ryan Martin, Tracy (Kevin) Healy, Chrissy (Stuart) Pinkston, and Matt (Lydia) Zenner; nine grandchildren; siblings Wayne (Nancy) Brimhall and Kathy (Larry) Taylor; nieces, nephews, dear friends, and other beloved members of the family.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. in the Gardens at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth Street, Traverse City, Michigan 49684.
