Obituary

Ronald "Ron" A. Albers, 85, of Traverse City, died Nov. 30, 2019 in his beloved home on Long Lake with his wife, Judy, at his side.

Ron was born Jun. 29, 1934 in Detroit to parents, Anthony and Bernice (Lesinski) Albers.

Ron's successful career in hospital administration and finance spanned several decades, the latter half of which brought him to Traverse City's Osteopathic Hospital. He was a diligent volunteer at the Dennos Museum Center, which is where he met his wife, Judith (nee Keller), in 1994. They went on to marry in 1996.

Ron and Judy spent a great deal of time on and around Long Lake. Ron was passionate about the welfare of local lakes and waterways, especially Long Lake. He rallied and advocated for water quality and monitoring through his involvement in the Long Lake Association.

Ron is survived by his wife, Judith; children, Anthony (Kathryn) and Rita Fast-Albers; grandchildren, Annalisa Albers and Alison and Leah Fast; stepchildren, Victoria (Curt) Derks, Elizabeth (Dan) Goudey, John Jr. (Rebecca) Schaub and Christina (Aaron Russell) Schaub; 15 step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; as well as other extended family members; and numerous close friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Patricia Albers; first wife, Rose Marie (nee Fodera); sister, Alice "Sylvia" Fiut; and step grandchild, Taylor Derks.

A celebration of Ron's life will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019 at the Dennos Museum Center, 1701 E. Front St., Traverse City, MI 49686. Family and friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Refreshments will follow the service at the museum.
