Ronald Chester Kennedy, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2023. He was born on October 2, 1932, in Lansing, Michigan, to the late Robert and Daisy (Silverthorn) Verway. He married Nancy Carolyn Thomas in Lansing, Michigan.
Ron proudly served our country in the United States Navy, spending four years in the Pacific. He taught vocational printing in the Muskegon and Lansing school districts. He was a salesperson and manager with Helm Inc. in Detroit for 24 years.
In 1991, Ron and Nancy retired to the tranquil shores of Long Lake in Traverse City. There Ron found joy in tending to their yard, leisurely pontoon boat rides, and observing the birds. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years. He is also survived by son, Ross (Denise) Kennedy of Georgia, daughter, Karen Kennedy of New York and grandchildren, Ryan (Emily) Kennedy and Laura (Ben) Granger, Jesse Viverito and Carly Kennedy, as well as great-grandchildren Ella Brooke and Henry. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Bill.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Bob, Dick, Louanne, and Joylyn. A private family service will be held at a later time to honor his memory.
