TRAVERSE CITY — Ronald Eugene Lautner, 65, of Traverse City, passed away Sept. 30, 2011, at his home. Ron was born on April 14, 1946, in Traverse City, to Wilbert and Beulah (Skiver) Lautner. He was born and raised in Long Lake Township and graduated from Traverse City High School in 1964. Shortly after, he began dating the former Marcia Lee Gutzka. On Sept. 25, 1965, they married. Ron was a licensed plumber and worked all around the state for more than 30 years. He retired in 1997. Ron also helped build several homes for his family and friends. He was an extremely hard working and giving man. Once you met him, you were his friend. In his spare time he loved hunting, bowling, golfing, camping and traveling. He and his family especially enjoyed their vacations to Florida, Texas and Alaska. Ron was a member of the Interlochen Eagles. He also was one of the founders of the Benzie County ATV club. He enjoyed both of these clubs very much. Above all else, Ron loved spending time with his three granddaughters. They were the light of his life. Ron is survived by his wife, Marcia; his daughter, Karen Stites; his son, Scott Lautner; mother, Beulah Lautner; sister, Beverly McAdams; brother, Terry (Jackie) Lautner; brother-in-law, Duane Stowe; granddaughters, Macey, Hannah and Brooke; as well as many other friends and family members. Ron was preceded in death by his father; infant son, Jeffery Lautner; and sister, Judy Stowe. Visitation for friends and family will be held on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The memorial service honoring Ron's life will be held on Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at 11 a.m., with visitation to begin one hour prior, also at the funeral home. The Rev. Marvin Rosa will lead the service. Memorial contributions in honor of Ron may be directed to Battalion 10 Long Lake Fire Department.
