Mr. Ronald H. Ring- Torch Lake, Rapid City.
Ron passed away peacefully May 22, 2014 at the age of 75 with his loving wife Joan and his beloved dog Maggie by his side.
Ron was born November 30, 1938 in Flint, MI. to Herman and Lydia(Miller) Ring. He graduated from Flint Northern High School, the University of Michigan and the University of Michigan Law School. He then had a very distinguished law career as a Trial lawyer in Flint until his retirement in 1996. During his 30 year career Ron had the pleasure of acting as co-counsel with Melvin Belli and, in later years recieving a favorable verdict in a stray voltage case against a major power company. His knowledge of the law and his dedication to it are legendary among attorneys who knew him. Ron was also the former President of the Genesee County Bar Association, served on the Board of Directors of
The Family Service Agency of Genesee, Lapeer, and Shiawassee Counties and later served as the Board President, and was also on The Board of Directors of Cross Road Village of Genesee County.
Ron Loved fast cars and fast boats, down-hill skiing, and beautiful clothes. He became known as "Mr. Equipment" by his friends and their children. During the summer, he could be seen taking his morning cruise along the shore of Torch Lake. He loved spending time planting in his gardens at home, was a dedicated husband and best friend to his wife, Joan. They shared 47 years together traveling and enjoying the wonderful life-style that Northern Michigan offers.Together, they remodeled a 1903 cottage at Higgins Lake and later built their home on Torch Lake where they have resided since 1996.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife Joan Whitener Ring; Sister, Gail (Gary) Light of Ann Arbor; Nieces, Marcie (Scott) Moneypenny and their daughters, Kaylen and Lexie of Ann Arbor; Kristin (Joel) Jamison and their son, Case of Dexter, MI.
A celebration of Ron's life will be held at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Saturday May 31, 2014 at 11:00AM
