Ronald Roy, 86, of Traverse City and formerly of Oakland County, passed away on May 16, 2025, at his home with his family by his side under the care of Hospice.
Ron was born on November 28, 1938, to the late Gerard "George" and Iva Roy in Oakland County.
Ron bought and sold metals throughout Michigan and bordering states for 38 years prior to his retirement. He was employed by and friends with Arnie and Brett of A & l Irons and Metals in Gaylord.
Ron was an avid hunter, bowler and later in life a golfer. He loved playing cards with friends and at local casinos throughout Michigan and Vegas!
He was preceded in death by his brothers Jean, Jack and Bob and their loved ones and brother-in-law Charlie Ivey.
He is survived by his wife Constance "Connie"; their children Michele Roy (Howard), Daniel Roy, Julie Roy (Ron), Andrew Roy and Sara Roy; grandchildren Marlowe, Sam, Sarah, Garett, Jared, Bryce and Emma; great grandchildren Allison, Brooklyn, Colton, Olivia, and Charlotte; brothers Richard (Nikki) and David; brothers-in-law Rick (Pat) Blimka, Leo (Delene) Blimka, Pete (Jennifer) Blimka and sister-in-law Kathy; beloved nieces Val, Robin, Joy and their mother Sally; many other beloved nieces and nephews, children of brothers and sisters in laws and their children; lifelong friends Darrel (Judy) Blackett, Charles Law and David Walters and countless TC and downstate friends who have made his life memorable.
Memorial services in his honor will be held on July 11, 2025 at 3 pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City and at a later date in Oakland County.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to play a round of golf in his honor. But beware of losing your bet, remember he often won the long drive competition!
