Traverse City - Ronald S. Sarkon, 76, of Traverse City passed away unexpectedly June 15, 2017.
Ron was born on December 22, 1940 in Pontiac to the late Steve and Janet (Gala) Sarkon.
Ron married his high school sweet heart and the love of his life, Joyce Elaine Bergman on August 5, 1961 at St. Francis Catholic Church. They raised their family in Rochester, Michigan and returned back to their hometown of Traverse City for their golden years.
Ron attended Ferris State University. He co-owned and operated an automotive-based business in Troy, Michigan. He was admired for his salesmanship and his ability to connect with people.
In his spare time Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and cooking. He was a dedicated member of Ducks Unlimited. He loved watching his grand kids play sports. He and Joyce also loved to support St. Francis athletics and could often be found in the stands cheering on the Glads. They also enjoyed attending and volunteering at the Concerts on the Lawn at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce; son Steve (Linda) of Linden; daughter Krista (Peter) Galio of Clarkston; grandchildren Brady, Aaron, and Cole Sarkon and Olivia and Logan Galio; brother Larry Sarkon; sister-in-laws Jean Gerard (Glen), Cathy Wilber (Harold); and many beloved nephews and nieces.
Ron will be greatly missed. His life will be celebrated with a mass on Saturday, July 15. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am and a 10:00 am Mass at St. Francis Catholic Church.
