Ronald "Ron" Sheffer, 76, of Traverse City, passed away Sunday October 9, 2016.
On February 11, 1940, Ron was born to Orville and Veronica (April) Sheffer in Fruitport, MI.
After completing primary school, Ron then decided to help the family on their farm before joining the Army where he successfully completed 6 years.
For more then 32 years, Ron was employed by the City of Traverse City working with the vehicles, maintaining the beauty of Traverse City.
On August 29, 1981 he married Sherry Rose and together they built a nice homestead with their children and step-children.
Ron could always be found in his favorite outfit; a white t-shirt, sweatpants and ball cap. He loved to watch the Detroit Lions and even remembers the 1956 championship game (his and their last). Beyond his passion for watching the beloved Lions, he enjoyed collecting coins, collecting Native American statues, a Civil War enthusiast especially for the Union, shooting pool, playing cards and purchasing and scratching off lottery tickets.
Ron is survived by his mother Veronica, his wife Sherry, seven children; Connie Taylor-Sheffer, Bill (Jennifer) Coty, Rick Sheffer, Ronda (Gilbert) Delbosque, Luke (Heather Clark) Sheffer, Shawn (Brandie Saiz) Sheffer, Jason Sheffer and Skyler (Wesley Spink) Sheffer. Grandchildren; Tim, Desiree, Zack, Jordyn, Justin, Ana, Kalynn , Kloe, Jaxen, Kinsleigh, Gavin, Natalia, Brianna and Landen as well as great grandchildren; Parker, Devon, Ayden and Avrey. He is also survived by his brother Robert (Bob) Sheffer, sister Sandy Woods and brother Danny (Carol) Sheffer as well as his brother-in-law Bob Grubb.
He is preceded in death by his father Orville, his son Mark Sheffer, his sister Bonnie Grubb and his brother-in-law Stanley Woods.

Ron's final resting place will be Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens with his son Mark.
