Obituary

Rose M. Ciesla, 98 of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2013 at Munson Hospice House with family.

Rose was born on September 3, 1914 in Detroit, MI to the late Lawrence and Pauline (Stodolak) Machowski. She married George Ciesla on April 17, 1948 in Hamtramck, Wayne Michigan and was married 49 years until George passed away in 1998. Together they lovingly raised three children.

Rose worked 15 years at Cone Drive Gears and retired in 1979. After retirement, Rose continued working for 10 years as a volunteer at Munson Hospital as a switch board operator. She was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in addition to her neighborhood "Camp No Good" club. Rose was a wonderful woman, full of life, with a wealth of knowledge, and great sense of humor who sincerely cared about the people in her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Surviving Rose are her children, Michael ( Kimberly) Ciesla of Traverse City, Kathryn (Hal) Rogers of Colorado, Nanci (Eric) Sanford of California, and six grandchildren: Nick Castiglione, Hannah Ciesla, Alex Ciesla, Chasen, Sanford, Jenna Sanford, and Colin Sanford, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rose is preceded in death by her parents, husband George, sister Helen Gorcyca, sister Bernice Bodziak, and brother Frank Mack.

Visitation for Rose will be held from 4-8pm on Wednesday May 22, 2013 with a rosary held at 7pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 am on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at St. Francis Catholic Church with a visitation held one hour prior. Burial will take place at Oakwood Catholic Cemetery. Remembrances may be directed to the Grand Traverse Commission on Aging.
