Rose Marie (LaMont) Dakoske, 77, of Traverse City, died December 10, 2014 at Faith Hospice, Trillium Woods in Grand Rapids, in peace and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Marie, as she liked to be called, was born on September 9, 1937 in Detroit, the daughter of Jack LaMont and Leona (Mailloux) LaMont. Marie was raised in Detroit where she married her beloved husband, Joseph, in 1961 at St. David's Parish in Detroit. They had two children, Joe and Paul, who are both married to Anne and Sara, respectively, and 8 grandchildren, April, Kayla, Hannah, Emily, Joey, Emma, Paul jr. and Ellyn.

The family moved to Traverse City in 1969 when her husband, Joe, started his accounting practice. Years later, Marie began working at Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital where she started her career as a department secretary, then moved into diagnostic testing for cardiopulmonary procedures. She worked at Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital for 15 years through to the closing of the hospital. In addition to her immediate family, Marie is survived by one sibling, her dearly loved sister, Dolores (LaMont) Salva. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, a half-brother, and her dearly loved husband, Joseph. Marie will be greatly missed.

Grand Rapids visitation will take place at Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe Street NE, Rockford, MI 49341 on December 17 from 5:00pm-8:00pm. A funeral service will be celebrated at North Park Baptist Church, 3365 Coit Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525 on December 18 at 11:00am with Pastor Michael Breznau presiding. Traverse City visitation will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 12675 Center Road, Traverse City, MI 49686 on December 20 at 10:00am. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am, following visitation, with Msgr. Edwin Thome presiding. A private, family burial will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

For a more lasting memorial, the family suggests that contributions in Marie's name be directed to Grand Rapids Right to Life, Grand Traverse Area Right to Life or the Father Fred Foundation of Traverse City.
