Rose Marie Reece, 76, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at her home. Rose was born on December 3, 1944 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late George and Rose (Van Amburg) Scheck. She married the love of her life, Norman A. Reece on May 7, 1965 in Traverse City. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2019.
Rose had been employed with the Ben Franklin store for over ten years. She was a gifted artist, creating many paintings and crafts, as well as knitting and crocheting. Rose loved ancestry and history, she authored the book, "Boardman Valley Family." Camping was one of her passions, whether traveling around the country to Revolutionary War reenactments or staying at her favorite place Scheck's Family Campground. Above all, spending time with her family and being a mom and a grandma was her greatest joy.
Rose Marie is survived by her two sons; Daniel (Melissa) Reece and Kenneth (Kelly Bowers) Reece; two granddaughters; Sierra Holly Reece and Madelyn Marie Reece. Also surviving are a brother and two sisters; George (Kathleen) Scheck; Mary Ann (Tom) Bradley and Sandy Story.
A memorial service honoring Rose Marie will take place at 3:00 p.m., with visitation starting at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684.
