Rose Mary "Rosie" Hiner, 78, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Munson Medical Center. Rosie was born on December 9, 1938 in St. Johns, Michigan to the late Lloyd and Eva Dell (Lover) Hiner. Rosie was a kind and loving people person she always said "hi" and loved to talk with everyone she passed. She had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful cook she enjoyed baking and making fudge. She was a huge Elvis fan and great dancer. She had a green thumb grew many different kinds of plants. Among her other interests, she love crafts, crocheting and playing BINGO. During her career, Rosie had been employed as a manger for the Pinestead Reef Resort she was a nurse's aid at Provincial House and was a great waitress at Blondie's Restaurant. Above all spending time with her family and friends was her greatest joy.
Rosie is survived by three daughters and a son; Constance (Kurt) Annis, Brenda (Billy Smith) Brown, Janet (Edward) Pascoe and Jeffrey (Dawn) Brown. Also surviving are three sisters; Sally Nieman, Eva Dell (Patrick) Havens and Joyce (Jerry) Winslow as well as eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters; Robert Hiner, Lloyd Hiner, Elva Hiner, Sherry Hertsel and Betty Jean Sulkowski.
A memorial service honoring Rosie will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visiting one hour prior, on Monday, August 7, 2017 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684. Deacon Rene Hoenscheid will officiate.
