Rose Marie (Alldread) Smith passed into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ on September 9, 2020 after a long illness. She was born to Theodore and Bertha Alldread on September 19, 1932. She grew up in the Alanson area north of Petoskey and graduated from Petoskey High School. She then moved to Flint and completed her degree in cosmetology. She married Frank Richard Smith on July 7, 1951.
Rose loved sewing since early childhood, making her own wedding dress, clothes for her children, and quilts for the grandchildren. She loved camping with her family. She delighted in getting together with her children and grandchildren around a campfire. Frank and Rose also camped at most of the National Parks in the lower 48 states.
Most of all she loved her Savior, Jesus Christ and was very involved at church. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Traverse City, sang in the choir, participate in the Mission Circle and even helped build the new church. Later Frank and Rose joined Bible Baptist Church and rarely missed a service until her health stopped her.
Rose will be greatly missed by her surviving husband, Frank Smith, and their four children: Linda (Smith) DeGroft and husband, Steven; Janet (Smith) Dutton and husband, Jack; Gary Smith and wife Nancy; and Patricia (Smith) Coleman and husband, Gary. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
The celebration of Rose's life will be held at Bible Baptist Church in Traverse City on Tuesday, September 15th. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m., immediately followed by the funeral service at 3:00. Masks and social distancing protocol will be maintained per law.
