Rosemary F. Merritt

RoseMary Florence Merritt, 93, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions. RoseMary Kropp was born on January 31, 1924 in Traverse City to the late Otto and Florence (Atkinson) Kropp. She was married to Donald Foust in 1943, he preceded her in death on September 1, 1970. She married Edwin D. Merritt in 1972, he passed away on December 4, 2014. RoseMary lived in the Traverse City area for all of her life. She had been employed as a teller at a local credit union. She was a life member and past president of V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 2780. She enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, bowling and playing golf, she was proud of her hole-in-one. RoseMary was a great cook and no ever left her home hungry.

RoseMary is survived by her son; Larry (Margaret) Foust of Fayetteville, GA, a step-son, William Merritt of Traverse City, grandchildren; Laura, Jeffrey, Matthew, Meghan, Genevieve, Michele and Robert, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters and a brother; Ruth Wilder, Joan Maule, Shirley (Toby) Castner, Patricia Zukas and Fred (Shirley Sparks) Kropp, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Kropp and David Kropp, a sister, Jean Mullen and a step-son; Robert Merritt.

Friends are welcome to visit with RoseMary's family from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, MI 49684. Procession to Oakwood Cemetery will leave from the funeral home at 12:00 noon.
