Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Rosemary Standfest, 64, resident of the Grand Traverse area, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2012, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.Rosemary was born May 10, 1947, to Ernie Barber and the late Donna Farley in Dryden. Rosemary was born and raised in the Dryden area, graduating from Almont High School before entering Owosso Bible College.While attending college, Rosemary met her future husband, and on July 27, 1968, she entered into marriage with David Standfest in Utica.With their roots of faith, Rosemary and David began their life together and their family. Rosemary threw herself into the ultimate role as mother, being supportive, loving and caring at every turn. Her family was her life, as she nurtured and cared for her four children at home, she also assisted her husband to care for the community.Rosemary was an avid reader enjoying many faith-based books in addition to reading most anything and creating quite a library of her own. She could often be found creating lasting memories scrap-booking photos and life events or passing time sewing and quilting. Rosemary leaves many cherished memories and a legacy for her children, grandchildren and family.Rosemary is survived by her loving husband, David Standfest, of Williamsburg; her children, Brian Standfest, Mark (Janene) Standfest, Brent (Anna) Standfest, all of Rockford, and Lisa (Scott) Grosart, of Williamsburg; 11 grandchildren, Rachel, Travis, Ashlee, Emily, Luke, Owen, Jacob, Andrew, Tyson, Will, Lyla; her father, Ernie (Jocelyn) Barber; stepfather, Don (Gaila) Murdick; four sisters, Diane (Phil) Wills, Brenda (Dale) Benner, Vicki (Jason) Burley, Karen (Joe) Richardson; sister-in-law, Pat Murdick; her mother-in-law, Hope Standfest; three brothers-in-law, Skip (Ada) Standfest, Gordon (Kathleen) Standfest, and Bruce (Sue) Standfest; as well as many other loving family members and friends.Rosemary was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Farley; and a brother, Don Murdick.Visitation for friends and family will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. this evening, Jan. 10, at New Hope Community Church.Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, also at the church, with visitation one hour prior.The Pastor Craig Trierweiler will officiate.
