Roxanne "Roxy Belle" Durham Collier
Died Dec. 23, 2014
TRAVERSE CITY — This world is not my home. I'm just passing through. My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue. The angels beckon me from Heaven's open door, and I can't feel at home in this world anymore. These words from Roxanne Durham Collier's favorite Gospel songs were fulfilled on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014 when she transitioned from this world to her new life in the Home Jesus had prepared for her. Roxanne won her battle with cancer when she received the ultimate healing from Jesus where there is no more pain and suffering, and where she is united with her family and friends who also loved Jesus.
Roxanne was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Marshall and Doris Durham; her sister, Cathy Kennedy; and her granddaughter, Adrian Elyse Morris. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Robert Collier of Traverse City; her daughter, Penelope Lane (Loyd) Morris of Traverse City; her son, Christian Reed Collier (Lan) of Tallahassee, Florida; her grandson, William Kent (Dakota) Morris of Traverse City; granddaughter, Lakyn Celeste Collie of Oxford, Mississippi; and her great-grandsons Seally and Clyde of Traverse City; her sisters, Judith Durham (Bill) of Conroe, Texas, Pamela Kelly (Bill) of Oklahoma, and Nancy Bell (A.J.) of Leeds, Utah; and many nieces and nephews.
Roxanne loved her family, her family at Grand Traverse Community Church, her many friends in Christ in the DeColores Community, and her co-workers at Lighthouse Title Company. Her leaving left a vacuum that can only be filled by the Grace of Jesus Christ in the lives of we who are left behind. But we rejoice in The Promise of Scripture that this parting is temporary. She left us with enough encouragement and with a courageous example of how to face the end of life with faith and dignity.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor her life may make a donation to a ministry that she loved, Northern Michigan DeColores.
The celebration of Roxanne's life will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 28, at Church Of The Living God, 1514 Birmley Road in Traverse City, with visitation at 2 p.m.
