TRAVERSE CITY — Ruby "Kay" Dorman, 91, a retired registered nurse, of Traverse City, formerly of Sun City, Ariz., died Wednesday evening, April 6, 2011, at Orchard Creek Assisted Living, following a lingering illness.Born Sept. 19, 1919, in Russellville, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lura (Barlow) Rudder. On Dec. 15, 1945, in Washington, D.C., she married Lewis Dorman. He preceded her in death in 1986.While living in Russellville, she was a longtime member of Russellville United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for a number of years.Kay worked as a nursing supervisor at Munson Medical Center for more than 18 years. Following her retirement, she moved to Sun City, where she enjoyed 34 wonderful years. She returned to the Grand Traverse area in 2009, due to poor health.She enjoyed reading and collecting books, gardening and practicing yoga.Kay is survived by her children, Lewis (Janet) Dorman II, of Suttons Bay, Michael (Sandra) Dorman, of Kewadin, and Richard P. Dorman; two grandchildren, Christine (Thomas) Webb and Michelle (Jason) Ray; four great-grandchildren, Serena, Devin, Alexander and Justin; and one great-great-grandchild, Saphire.Private graveside services have been held at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens, with the Rev.
