Ruby V. Stallman, 97, lifelong Traverse City native passed away peacefully on Friday, December 7, 2018. Ruby was born on January 4, 1921 in Traverse City to the late Harry and Bessie (Valleau) Muehling at their home on Ninth Street. She was married to William H. Chamberlin, who preceded her in death in June 1971. Ruby later married William Stallman on May 21, 1976, who also predeceased her in July of 2006. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. She worked for the Grand Traverse County Court systems for over 15 years before retiring in 1981.
Ruby enjoyed needle point, ceramics and dancing. Winters were spent on Padre Island in Texas; a place she and Bill spent time making new friends and exploring new places. Ruby was also an excellent cook, especially at baking Christmas cookies. She was a devoted Detroit Tigers and Lions fan but above all, spending time with her family was her greatest joy.
Ruby is survived by three sons and a daughter; Bill Chamberlin, Donald (Shannon)Chamberlin, Janice (Michael) Garland and Harold (Lorri) Chamberlin, and 7 step children, Marceline, William J., Martha, Mark, Marguerite, Mary, and Andrea. Also surviving are Ruby's two grandchildren, Lori and Jason, and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother; Carl Muehling.
Mass of Christian Burial honoring Ruby will take place at 3:30 p.m., with visitation starting at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, December 10, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1025 S. Union St., Traverse City. Rev. Fr. Benjamin Rexroat will officiate.
