Rudolph Renaldo Norconk

Rudolph Renaldo Norconk, 85, of Grawn, passed away Wednesday, May 02, 2018 at Grand Traverse Pavilions in Traverse City.

Rudy was born on Friday, May 20, 1932 at home in Bear Lake, the son of Milford R. and Myrtle (Lapland) Norconk. Rudy graduated from Manistee High School. He married Marian L. Hakanson on Saturday, February 14, 1953 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Ludington and together they raised their four children Christine, Cindy, Craig and Cheryl and also opened their home to 14 foster children.

Rudy owned and operated Haddons Shoe Store in Traverse City, and following retirement in 1994, worked for Williams Chevrolet as a shuttle driver and other responsibilities. He and Marian had attended Traverse Bay United Methodist Church back when it was Asbury, but were members for the last number of years at Grawn United Methodist Church, where they were very active. Rudy enjoyed cooking for the church dinners and helping where ever help was needed. He enjoyed fishing, but especially enjoyed camping, traveling the country with Marian, as well as visiting Israel and Ireland.

Rudy is survived by his children Christine (Martin) Flack of Grand Rapids, Cynthia (John) North of Fife Lake, Craig (Beth) Norconk of Williamsburg and Cheryl (Robert) Canary of Manistique. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Marian on Oct. 3, 2007, by his parents and a sister Naomi Lytle.

Visitation for Rudy will take place Friday, May 4 from 6 until 8 p.m. at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 5 at Grawn United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior.

Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Commission on Aging, who were so helpful in allowing Rudy to stay in his own home.
