RUTH MARGARET BRADY HART
Died September 7, 2023
TRAVERSE CITY – Ruth Margaret Brady Hart, of Traverse City, previously of St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada, passed away peacefully at the age of 94, on Sept. 7, 2023. She was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, to the late Marguerite and Melby Brady. She was a teacher and life long artist and graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a degree in History in 1952.
Ruth spent her working life as a teacher for elementary school, head start, and for an alternative high school program for young women. She loved children and had a unique ability to relate to people of all ages. She was a gifted mentor and was known as someone who always put others before herself. She was a talented artist. She lived a life of contribution and gave generously of her time to her community in a variety of endeavors, as well as to Big Brothers Big Sisters in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada.
Ruth was married to the love of her life, the late Stanton Hart, for 60 years, and was a loving mother to her two children, Linda Hart Laughlin and Peter Hart. Her family always felt the strength of her love and unwavering support, and knew they were the center of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanton Hart, and her parents, Marguerite and Melby Brady and her brother Gordon (Marjorie) Brady.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Linda Elizabeth Hart Laughlin and her husband, Fred Laughlin, her son, Peter Lincoln Hart and his wife, Dorothy Schmauder, her grandson, Peter John Laughlin, her grandson David Stanton Laughlin and wife, Kristin Laughlin, her great grandchildren, Ethan, Beau and Emma Laughlin, and her sister-in-law, Camilla Kneale.
There will be a celebration of Ruth's life to be announced at a later time.
The family would like to thank French Manor for the wonderful, loving care given to Ruth over the years. They would also like to thank both French Manor staff and her Hospice of Michigan Team for the exceptional care, expertise, kindness and support given at the end of her life.
