Ruth Trudell

Ruth Trudell age 91, of Traverse City, entered into her heavenly rest on January 23, 2015, at Munson Hospice House, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 3, 1923, in Bay City, to the late William and Irma (Michener) Reinke and was the eldest of their six children. She graduated from Bay City Central High School, in 1941, and married Donald Hopp that same year. Together they raised their family on a farm in Munger, MI. Ruth worked at Agrico Fertilizer for 30 years, as a shipping coordinator.

In 1976, Ruth wed Floyd Trudell, in Essexville, MI. They enjoyed spending time in Florida and at the cabin in the woods near Traverse City, feeding the wild turkeys, watching the swans on the lake and the deer in the yard. Ruth loved her Lord, her family, family potlucks, crocheting and euchre. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Interlochen.

Ruth is survived by her three children, Donald (Patty) Hopp of Bay City, Diane Bassett (Fiancee Michael Stratford) and Carol Hoffman of Traverse City; five grandchildren, Heide (Dan) Mello and Alison Hoffman of Traverse City, Todd (Charlene) Hoffman of Boulder, CO; Erik (Elizabeth) Nixon of Buckley and Shannon Nixon of Boulder, Co; as well as six great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilmar Billmeier, Robert Horner and Evelyn Reinke. Also, her three stepchildren, Gerard (Donna) Trudell of Dearborn; Charlene Trudell of Essexville; and Mary Jo Trudell of Bay City; as well as step-grandchildren.
Ruth was predeceased by her first husband, Donald Hopp, in 1971; her second husband, Floyd Trudell, in 1997; siblings; William, LaVerne and Wesley Reinke, Marge Billmeier, Arlene Horner; sisters-in-law Wilma Pomeroy, Arline Beach, Marlene Reinke; brothers-in-law; Jay Pomeroy, Clayton Beach and special son-in-law, Thomas Hoffman.

A funeral service will be held on Monday January 26, 2015. at 11:00A.M. at Redeemer Lutheran Church located at 1896 Rogers Road, Grawn, MI, with visitation one hour prior.
Memorials may be directed to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 184, Interlochen, MI, 49643.
Interment will be at Floral Gardens, Bay City, MI.
