Ryan Craig Laughery, 43, of Traverse City, passed away unexpectedly from an aneurysm, surrounded by his loving family, on January 15, 2026, at Munson Medical Center.
Ryan was born in Jefferson, Iowa, to Jeffrey and Anne-Marie (Bainter) Laughery. The family later moved to Elk Rapids, where Ryan grew up with his siblings and made lifelong memories and friendships. He graduated from Elk Rapids High School in 2001 and continued his education at Western Michigan and then NMC where he earned his Associates Degree.
On June 11, 2011, Ryan married the love of his life, Wendy Lee Anloague. Together, they built a beautiful life and lovingly raised their two children, Mason and Olivia, who were the center of Ryan's world. Ryan was a devoted husband, an exceptional father, and a caring son. He always was supportive, present, and full of love.
Ryan worked for many years at the Grand Traverse Resort as a bellman, where he was known for his strong work ethic and made countless friends. He and Wendy were also proud owners of the RW Cleaning business they built together.
Ryan had a deep love for music. He was talented in singing and playing the guitar and found joy in sharing music with others. He was a passionate fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, never missing a game. Ryan and his family shared many special moments connected to their love for the number 311. Ryan will be deeply missed and remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Wendy; children, Mason and Olivia; parents, Jeff and Anne-Marie Laughery; grandma Jean Laughery; siblings, Kara (Craig) Riffenburg and Sean (Corinne) Laughery, sisters-in-law, Brooke (Chris) Frye and Kendra (Drew) Willett; and many extended family members and dear friends.
Ryan was joyfully greeted in heaven by his beloved Yorkie, Lucy, who we are sure was happy to see him again.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 10 am with a celebration of life to follow at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Ryan's family, Project Feed the Kids or to the Father Fred Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
