Ryan Lee Packer, 26, of Byron Center, MI passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 at his home.
Ryan was born on July 31, 1991 to Bill and Teena (Kremer) Packer in Kissimmee, FL. He moved to Traverse City with his family and attended Traverse City Prep High School, graduating with honors. He attended Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City. Ryan was employed by Grand Traverse Container and operated their manufacturing facility in Grand Rapids, MI.
It is said that it is not the years in the life of a person, rather the life in those years. Ryan certainly exemplifies this as he will be remembered as a loving and caring person. His smile would light up any room he walked in to. He went out of his way to help others, putting others in front of his own needs; he was a positive influence to all those around him, and his compassion extended to all creatures, big and small. He will be missed by his cat 'Bubbles' and his 4 foot iguana 'Yoshi'.
Ryan enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad. He liked to walk in the woods and along the beach, gathering stones of all sizes. He was a bit of a car enthusiast and loved his cars, but especially his Audi A5. He achieved a black belt in Tae Kwon Do at age 9 and was known for his love of music.
Ryan is survived by his parents Bill and Teena; sisters Michelle Packer and Rachelle Packer; grandparents Kathleen Packer, Leanne Stevens and Ronald Kremer; 11 nieces and nephews; and girlfriend Tara Strickland.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
