KINGSLEY — Sallie Kaye Hoeflin, 70, passed away Friday, Sept. 30, 2011, at her home in Kingsley, surrounded by her loving family.Sallie was born Saturday, Sept. 27, 1941, to the late Chester and Bernice (Knight) Seel in Traverse City. She began her schooling in Fife Lake, and later attended Kalkaska High School, from which she graduated. On Saturday, Oct. 14, 1961, she married Robert A. Hoeflin at Central United Methodist Church in Traverse City.A hair stylist, Sallie owned and operated Sallie's Beauty Salon in Kingsley. She was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church and Cherryland Flower Club, and enjoyed gardening. Sallie loved music, and it gave her great pride to listen to her grandchildren play in the music programs.Sallie enjoyed being a part of the community of Kingsley and loved decorating her home inside and out for the holidays. She enjoyed making quilts, ornaments and other hand-painted items that she gave away as gifts and fundraisers. She was a very talented crafter and painter.Sallie's greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and attending their many sports events. Her presence made life easier for everyone around her and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.Sallie is survived by her husband, Bob, of Kingsley; a son, Scott (Carrie) Hoeflin, of Kingsley; daughter, Vicki (Mike) LaCross, of Traverse City; her grandchildren, Hilary Hoeflin, A. J. LaCross and Taylor LaCross; her twin sister, Sandra (Everett Jr.) Watson, of Williamsburg; sisters, Mary (Al) Belkonen, of Manistee, and Margo (Al) Horn, of Florida. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Delores (Gary) Moore, of Traverse City; best friend, Nancy Lueck; and many nieces, nephews and friends.Sallie was preceded in death by her parents.Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at Kingsley United Methodist Church, with Pastor Gary Wales and Chaplain Ron White officiating. Visitation will take place at the church beginning one hour prior to the service.
