Sally Ann Carlisle, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 18th, 2021. She was born May 31st, 1935 in Williamsburg, Michigan to Myron K. Tossey and Geraldine Laforest Tossey. She was the eldest of three sisters. Sally was a lifelong resident of Northern Michigan, eventually settling in Traverse City for the past 58 years. As a teenager she attended Cadillac High School where she was once Homecoming Queen.
She married Albert W. Carlisle in 1952 and together they had three sons. She worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell for a number of years. She also worked as a nursing assistant at Traverse City State Hospital. Sally was a longtime member of Church of the Living God. She was also a member of Women's Aglow International where she counseled many women. She participated in "The Diary of Ann Frank" with the Traverse City Civic Players at the Cherry County Playhouse.
Sally enjoyed caring for her home, working on the inside, painting, cleaning and decorating for the different seasons of the year. She also enjoyed working outside taking care of the yard and doing small projects on the outside of the house. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids. She baked birthday cakes for the many birthday parties she hosted for them and for friends. Her home was a central meeting place for family and friends during Cherry Festival with its parades, other summer events and any other reason to get together.
Sally was preceded in death by her mother, father, sisters Linda Peasley and Karen Groesser, son Greg Carlisle, grandson Kristofer Carlisle and step-grandson Carl Alley. She is survived by sons Timothy (Wanda) Carlisle and Tedd (Cindi) Carlisle and daughter-in-law Katie Carlisle, grand children JJ (Abbey) Carlisle, David Carlisle, Katie Rose Anderson, Anthony (Kate) Carlisle, Emily Anne Carlisle, step-grandchild Monica Cantu (Joseph Wigley), 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank The Maples in Frankfort, MI for caring for Sally since September 2020.
A memorial service honoring Sally will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 22nd at Church of the Living God, 1514 Birmley Road, Traverse City, MI 49696 with a visitation to follow at the church.
