Sally Parrott Ray, longtime resident of Suttons Bay, passed away March 11, 2023 after just turning 88 on the 6th. Sally was born in East Grand Rapids, MI to the late George "GG" and Velma (Jackson) Parrott. She was one of two daughters.
After completing High School, Sally went on to achieve her bachelor's degree in teaching from Michigan State University where she was proudly a member of the Chi Omega sorority. Prior to retirement, she taught at Jackson, Battle Creek and Birmingham, MI Public Schools.
On September 7, 1957 she married the love of her life Robert Harvey Ray and together they had two sons. She was a longtime member of Grace Episcopal Church and enjoyed fishing, yoga, reading, music, volunteering, dogs and playing with her grandchildren. Sally is survived by her sister, Nancy Hatton, her two sons Eric (Jill) Ray and Andy (Donna) Ray, grandson Alex (Lindsay) Ray, granddaughter Jamie Ray and great granddaughter Adalyn Ray. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Harvey Ray.
Those wishing an expression of sympathy may choose to consider contributions in Sally's honor to the Alzheimer's Association of Michigan. A celebration of Sally's life will be held this summer.
