Samantha Lauren Robinson, 28, of Traverse City died peacefully after a long battle with cancer at home under hospice care on Saturday August 20, 2016. She was born January 15, 1988 in Traverse City, the daughter of Dennis and Jill (Wuest) Robinson.
Sam was very active in Special Olympics and participated in the sports of soccer, biking, basketball, softball, volleyball, snowshoeing and poly-hockey. She enjoyed the trips to summer, winter and Warren games and had a wonderful time with her coaches and teammates.
She graduated from the Adult Work Center in 2014 and had many friends in her teachers, aides and students.
Samantha loved her job at Grand Traverse Industries (GTI) and enjoyed being with her friends and the staff there.
Sam especially loved her dog Robbie, family gatherings, camping, movies, music, coloring, puzzles and her stuffed animals. She had special relationships with many people. Her 5th street neighbors, medical care-givers, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends of the family.
Samantha was a loving, fun, quick-witted, talkative, strong and inspiring young lady who made a lasting impression on those whose lives she touched. She lived her cancer journey with grace and courage.
Surviving are her parents; Dennis and Jill, aunts and uncles; Mary and Gary Robinson, Janet and John Krupp, Jennifer and Paul Walter, Joanne and Ted Jaworski and Jack Wuest. Cousins; Jessicah (Evan) Kolter, Tina (Adam) Renault, Emily Krupp, Anna (Jeff) Parker and Matthew and Steven Jaworski. She especially loved her little second cousins; Paul and Joelle Renault and Jack Kolter.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Lauerence and Bess Robinson and Jack and Dorothy Wuest.
A celebration of life honoring Samantha will be on Saturday August 27, 2016 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 3pm with a visiting hour for friends and family one hour prior.
