Obituary

Sandra Earline Svec, 82, of Interlochen passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions with her loving family at her side.

Sandra was born on January 18, 1941, in Traverse City, MI, to the late Orville and Ruth (Hulbert) Smith. She spent a majority of her life in the Interlochen area.

Sandra worked at Potters, Milliken's, and for Dr. Barry Lishawa and Dr. Rich Rudesell along with doing the books for many family businesses. She was very supportive of her boy's and all their adventures through the years. She was also an enthusiastic member of the Red Hat Society, finding joy in the camaraderie of her fellow members. Sandra had a deep love for animals, especially her cats, and found comfort in their companionships over the years. She attended the Interlochen Bible Church and had many friends there. Above all, she cherished her role as a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother finding fulfillment in raising her children and creating a warm and loving home for her family.

In addition to her many passions, Sandra had a heart full of creativity and generosity. She had a special talent for painting ladybug rocks, which she lovingly crafted and shared with others, bringing smiles to the faces of friends and strangers alike. One of her favorite pastimes was decorating people's mailboxes with cheerful creations, spreading joy throughout her community. Sandra also had a fondness for the simple pleasures in life, indulging in delicious popcorn and taking leisurely rides on her tricycle in the nearby state park. She embraced her adventurous spirit by exploring her neighborhood on her bike, always carrying treats for the neighborhood dogs she encountered. Sandra's spirit of kindness and adventure touched the lives of everyone she met, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her.

Sandra will be remembered for her kindness, love, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will be treasured by all who knew her. May her soul rest in peace.

Sandra is survived by her children, Dennis (Cindy) Svec, Clare (Bridget) Svec, and Tim Svec, her grandchildren Kali Svec, Hunter Svec, Amanda (Jake) Milarch and Troy (Gisel) Gulvas, great grandchildren Vivienne, Isla and Knox, her siblings, Gracie (Ralph) Baum, Janet (Carl) Zywicki, and Thelma Garvin, along with many other loving family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings; Arnold (Joyce) Smith, Bob (Marilyn) Smith, Carolyn "Terri" Elsenheimer, Yvonne Linsenmayer and her husband Stan and their son little Stanley.

The family would like to say thank you to the Grand Traverse Pavilions, PACE, Promedica, Munson Medical Center, and Interlochen EMS for the excellent care she received the last few years.
