Sandra Marie Hendges

Sandra Marie Hendges, 70, of Traverse City, passed away July 15, 2017 at her home unexpectedly.
Sandy was born May 17, 1947 in Oxnard, CA to the late John Greenway and Maxine (Weber) Cross.
During her childhood she spent a great deal of time moving from place to place being a child of a serviceman. From Alaska to Hawaii and many places in between.
Though Traverse City was not her place of birth it was her forever home.
She worked in the manufacturing field until retirement and then spent much time tending to her flower gardens, cooking, crocheting, and enjoying her four legged friends.
Sandy was always seeking ways to help others and had a heart the size of Texas. She would support her sisters band on many occasions and would love to polka. She always went over the top with Christmas and made sure that everyone felt welcomed and loved.
One of her favorite spots was the Niagara Falls and there was hope to return again some day.
Sandy is survived and missed dearly by her two sons; Rick and Mike, her sister Pam "PJ" and her brother Terry. She is also missed dearly by her close friends that she called second family.
She is preceded in death by both her parents.
