Sandra "Sandy" Marie Hackbarth, 75, passed away on Tuesday November 8, 2016 at her home in Traverse City, surrounded by her loving family.
Sandy was born in Chicago, IL, on November 14, 1940, to the late David and Jane (Stenwall) Swanson. On September 8, 1962, in Chicago, Sandy married Dennis Karl Hackbarth, who survives.
In 2014, Sandy and Dennis moved to their retirement home in Long Lake Township from Bremen, IN. She was an active member of East Bay Calvary Church. Her favorite times were those spent with family and friends. Fondly, and with great appreciation, Sandy will be remembered for being a godly woman of prayer. She steadfastly pointed so many to look to Christ as their personal Savior and to live in order to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.
In addition to her husband Dennis of 54 devoted years, Sandy is survived by her children, John (Jody) of Kingsley, Matthew (Jeanie) of Interlochen, and Andrea (Philip) Strong of Lander, WY; grandchildren, Heather, Hailey, Hudson, Grant, Dawson, Jessica, Diana, Alyssa, Andrew, and Anastasia; great grandchild, Theophilus; sisters, Barbara (Tom) Dudeck of South Bend, IN and Jill (Jim) Egan of Suttons Bay; and a brother, David "Larry" (Carrie) Swanson of Spring Grove, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation for Sandy will be held on Thursday November 10, 2016 at East Bay Calvary Church from 4-7 p.m. The funeral ceremony will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2016 also at East Bay Calvary Church. Private family burial services will take place at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. For those wishing to give a gift in memory of Sandy, contributions may be directed to the mission fund at East Bay Calvary Church.
