Sandra “Sandy” Rushlow passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19 2026, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, surrounded by the love of her family. Sandy Hilbert was born on March 29, 1957 in Traverse City to the late Arnold and Theola (Delancy) Hilbert. She married the love of her life, Frank Rushlow on July 9, 1983 in Traverse City.

Sandy was born and raised in Traverse City, where she grew up working alongside her family in the bee farming business, packing honey to earn money for her first car. Those early years helped shape the hardworking, caring, and dependable woman everyone came to know and love.

Known by friends as the dependable designated driver, Sandy was always someone others could count on. She had a special gift for keeping in touch with friends and family no matter the distance or time apart, making everyone feel remembered and loved. Sandy was often the heart behind family gatherings, organizing events and making sure traditions and memories were carried on for generations. One of Sandy’s greatest joys was camping with her family. Whether around a campfire, planning trips, or simply spending time together outdoors, she treasured every moment shared with those she loved most.

Sandy is survived by her devoted husband, Frank Rushlow; her children, Amber, Ryan, and Nathan; and her eight beloved grandchildren: Alex, Ella, Owen, Violet, Logan, Nicholas, Keira, and Rowen. Also surviving is a brother, Larry (Geana) Hilbert.

She will be remembered for her kindness, loyalty, organization, and the deep love she gave to her family and friends. Her presence brought people together, and her memory will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched. Family and friends will forever carry Sandy’s love and spirit in their hearts.

A Memorial Service honoring Sandra will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m., on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, Michigan 49684. Pastor Scott Bills will officiate.
