Sarah Elizabeth Biskupski
TRAVERSE CITY – Sarah Elizabeth (Rockafellow) Biskupski, age 31, of Traverse City, passed away on June 6, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family and their dog Mylie, after a 6-year battle with ovarian cancer. She remained a brave woman extending grace, love and peace even throughout her final months.
She was born on October 28, 1987 in Traverse City to Chuck and Brenda (Olmstead) Rockafellow. Sarah grew up in the Traverse City area where she graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 2005. Following her graduation, Sarah enrolled at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI, where she achieved her Master of Architecture degree as well as a Minor in Business. It was while Sarah was at college that she met her future husband, Pete. They were married September 4, 2011 in Traverse City. After college, Sarah remained dedicated to her work at C.C. Power as an accountant.
Sarah was once described as "pure joy with red hair". Sarah and Pete were inseparable and remained very devoted to one another. They enjoyed many travels and riding their bikes to the farmers market on Saturdays during their marriage. It has been said about Sarah that she was a bright light, she had beautiful determination, she was a glowing inspiration, she had a contagious smile, and that she loved Jesus and relied on His strength throughout her life.
Sarah is survived by her husband and best friend, Pete, parents; Chuck (Brenda) Rockafellow and In-laws; Mark (Karen) Biskupski, siblings; Ryan (Stephanie) Rockafellow, Lauren (Andrew) Magirl, niece and nephew; Evelyn and Carson Rockafellow, nephew; Owen Magirl, grandparents; Reuel (Lillian) Rockafellow, and Carl (Sharon) Olmstead. Sarah was preceded in death by her grandmother, Eva Rockafellow.
Visitation for family and friends will take place from 6:00 – 9:00 pm on Friday, June 14th, 2019 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A celebration of Sarah's life will take place at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 15th, 2019 at New Hope Community Church with a visitation beginning at 11:00 am. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at New Hope Community Church.
