Obituary

On May 30, 2023 in East Jordan Michigan, a beloved fiancé, daughter, sister, niece, and friend was unexpectedly taken and sent to her forever home in Heaven. Sarah Lin Marolf, at the age of 32, passed away from a pulmonary embolism. Though Sarah was taken from us so suddenly, her love story has not ended with her death. Despite many hardships that entered her life, she was grounded in her Christian faith and believed Jesus as her savior.
Sarah's free and colorful spirit was just as contagious as her laughter and she always had such bright and positive energy to share. Before moving to Petoskey, Sarah spent much of her time working in downtown Traverse City at the Diversion's Hat Store and Sunglass Shoppe. She loved calling her dad and sisters to tell them of her epic sales of the day and how much she loved Traverse City for its unique and social atmosphere. Sarah was the kind of person who was unafraid to make new friends in any setting and use her empathetic nature to help others.
Although Sarah always considered Michigan to be her home, she found it in other places across the world and the U.S. when traveling with her family and fiancé. She found a love for the ocean on the beaches in Hawaii, Florida, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. She was a passenger princess with snacks on the ready for those long roadtrips through the mountains of Colorado, up north to the U.P. And music festivals across the country with her Fiancé. Making new memories with her loved ones and exploring new places was a passion of Sarah's.
Sarah graduated from Elk Rapids High School in 2009 where she made lifelong memories and had many friends. During her time there she played several sports including basketball, soccer, and cross country. It was during her school years that she developed a strong work ethic which carried into adulthood and was reflected in her career. Sarah's passion lied in her excitement about the future of the business that she and her fiancé had opened called "Full Moon Pizza" at the Backlot in Petoskey.
Sarah was very fond of animals and adored her Pitbull Rosie and charmed the scales of her bearded dragons Phoenix and Copper. Sarah provided unconditional love to her family in ways they will forever value like; boxing up Christmas cards she had saved from her late mother and regifting them to her sisters and dad with a new message of love and also of remembrance, or of sending little letters and trinkets tailored to each of them that will be adored for years to come. Maybe the treasure looked like a special piece of jewelry or a petoskey stone she collected that came with a story – nonetheless, Sarah always made you feel special and let you know that you were loved by her.
Sarah was preceded in death by her mother Joy (Olsen) Marolf. Sarah is survived by her fiancé, Rusty Bolt(Petoskey); her father Lin Marolf; and her three sisters Courtney, Lauren, and Rebecca Marolf(Williamsburg). Also surviving is her Grandmother Marlene Olsen(St. Ignace) and many aunts, uncles and cousins from the Upper Peninsula and Colorado.
A celebration of Sarah's life will take place on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at New Hope Community Church. The time will begin with a visitation from 12-1pm with a memorial service at 1pm with dessert to follow. The family is encouraging everyone to wear their brightest and most colorful attire as per Sarah's wishes. Sarah had said "I don't want people wearing black for me, wear color – be bright!"
