Traverse City - Sarah Mae Rasmussen, 89, of Traverse City went to be with her Lord and Savior and her Loving Husband on August 1, 2012.
Sarah was born on January 28, 1923 in St. Ignace to Melville and Sophia (Bassar) Lant. On April 4, 1943 she and the late Clarence S. Rasmussen were joined in Holy Matrimony. They enjoyed 55 years together before he passed away in 1998.
Sarah was a member of East Bay Calvary Church. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and gardening. In more recent years, Sarah loved to play bid euchre with her close friends and was a champion of the game. She also worked at Martinek Jewelers for several years prior to her retirment in 1977. When she was a young adult she also helped teach a jitterbug class.
Survivors include their children Donald Clarence Rasmussen, Cheryl Anne Dunlop and Gerald Allen Rasmussen all of Traverse Cty, grandchildren Jessica Mae (Donald) Hill of Kingsley, Andrew Lee (Jessica) Dunlop, Julie Anne Dunlop, and Paul Alan-Rasmussen Dunlop all of Traverse City, great grandchildren Jason Timothy Hill and Rose Clorinda Hill, brother Melville (Beverly) Lant Jr., of St. Ignace, and sister Lucille (Gerald) Tedder of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
Waiting for her in Heaven were her husband Clarence Sophus, son Kenneth Lee, brother William, and parents Melville and Sophia.
A memorial service will be held on Friday August 10, 2012 at 1:00 pm at East Bay Calvary Church. Graveside services at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens will follow.
