Obituary

Sarah S. Tucker, 100, of Traverse City passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Traverse Manor. Sarah was born on April 10, 1916 in White City, Kentucky to the late John Stephen and Olga Jane (Price) Shadrick. She was married to Earl Tucker on November 5, 1938. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2000. Sarah was an accomplished musician. She played violin with the Asheville, North Carolina Symphony. She enjoyed painting and growing orchids and violets. Sarah loved entertaining. She was a wonderful hostess, and loved baking. Above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Sarah is survived by her daughter, Ann (James) Dykstra of Glen Arbor, two grandchildren; Matthew (Heather) Dykstra of Lake Ann and Gretchen Dykstra of Seattle, WA and two great-grandchildren; Sydney and Sam Dykstra. Also surviving are Sarah's two beloved cats; Charlie and Minnie.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother; Cassie Barton, Mary Mason and James Shadrick.

Sarah's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Hospice of Michigan and Traverse Manor for their loving care of Sarah.

In accordance with Sarah's wishes, a private family service has taken place.
