Scott William Huggins

Scott William Huggins, 50, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2018.
He was born on July 12, 1967 in Reed City to Mary (Helmling) Huggins and the late Michael Huggins. On August 12, 1995 he married Naomi Chalk at Immaculate Conception Church.
Scott attended both Saginaw Valley and MSU James Madison Colleges. His son now attends MSU making Scott very proud to know he would also become an alumnus. He had a passion for cooking and shared it with his daughter who inherited the same skill level. "Your Daddy will love you forever!" was his signature line and his children felt it. While he was a father of two, he was a father figure for many more growing strong relationships with his children's friends and his nieces and nephews.
Scott was a friend forever, a compassionate and caring husband, father, son and friend providing unconditional love and belonging to all. Scott was a pillar of of the soccer referee community, reffing both highschool and premier level soccer games across the State and numerous tournaments outside Michigan including Ohio,Virginia and Minnesota for the USA Cup where he most loved to work with the International referee community. He volunteered for countless activities; Problem Captain for the State of Michigan Odyssey of the Mind, baseball and soccer coach, volunteered in his children's schools. He both worked and volunteered with the migrant community. He worked for Compassionate Care.
Scott is survived by his wife Naomi, children Eliot and Maran, his mother Audrey, sister Susy, her children Cristina, Jimmy, and Tori. His sister in law Bonnie and her children Amanda, Michal, Kyle, Madison, and Tyler. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Michael, and uncles John Helmling and Tom Huggins and his four grandparents.
In Lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to: The John Bieniewicz Memorial Scholarship Fund or to the family for Eliot's and Maran's college educations.


Visitation will take place Sunday April 15, 2018 at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 10:00am - 12:30pm. A memorial service will also take place on Sunday the 15th at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 12:30pm.
