Obituary

Scott Alan Markle, 64 of Williamsburg, Michigan passed away at his home on April 13, 2023.
Scott entered this world on July 19, 1958 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI. and grew up in Jenison, MI.
Early on, it was apparent that Scott was intelligent, talented, and had a kind, soft heart . At the tender age of 3, he found some robins eggs outside and decided to bring them into the house, where he placed them on the couch and proceeded to sit on them to try and hatch them, because…….why not? His empathy for animals was evident by his relationship with his beloved cat, Rags, with whom he gave and received unconditional love.
Scott was a self-made musician who created many unique recordings and original compositions. He mainly played guitar, bass and keyboards. He flirted with vocals out of necessity and was recently exploring percussion and mandolin.
He was an artist and preferred painting in acrylic, but also worked with oils. Scott had a deep love for nature which comes through in his paintings. He showcased his pieces in various exhibits, but his proudest moment was being chosen to display his Dads portrait at the gallery inside The Dennos Museum in Traverse City, where his friend Susie Higgins works. Scott enjoyed woodworking and made furniture, cribbage boards, lamps and accessories, which he sold in a few select shops, as well as gifting pieces to his family and friends, along with his paintings. He could fix anything and his parents joke that he was their very own personal handyman.
He retired from The Traverse City Public School System, where he was a beloved member of the maintenance department. While working there, he had the privilege of making some music tracks with some of the students. After retirement, he worked for JLL, doing roving maintenance for Meijer Stores and making new friends with his colleagues.
In the words of his best friend of over 50 years, Chris Flanders…………Scott had a poets soul, an artist's sensibilities, a liberal mind, conservative values, a heart of gold and an open wallet. He was loyal to his friends and despite his struggles with personal relationships, his family meant everything to him and he loved them with a passion. He was always ready to give of himself to help others seek truth, practice mindfulness, spread peace and find fulfillment, even when these things proved elusive to him. In the end, he had reached a level of peace and fulfillment that had seemed impossible in his earlier years. So wisdom is his legacy, and he shared it as freely as he did his labors.
Scott was preceded in death by his brother Jeff and Grandparents, Howard and Crystal Markle and Carl and Iva Hedlund.
He is survived by his parents Keith and Carleen ; his siblings Steve (Laurie), Jim (Judy) and Joanie (Jeff) Stanley; Niece and nephews Ryan, Sean, Trey, Matt, Zack, Casey, Jamey, Jeromy and Shawnah, several great nieces and nephews, as well as a few close personal friends.
The family will celebrate his life privately.
