Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Shane Michael Dick, of Traverse City, died Thursday, April 14, 2011, after a monthslong battle with health problems. He was 46.The son of Michael Dick, of Maple City, and Linda (Wigman) Dunigan, of Traverse City, Shane enjoyed time spent with family, hunting, the occasional pool game and, always, the merriment shared with friends, particularly his Thursday night poker buddies. He was a 1983 graduate of Traverse City Senior High School. He worked over the years in the building trades and was the owner of Northern Michigan Seamless. Shane was most proud of his daughter, Bianca.He was born April 8, 1965, in Melrose Park, Ill. He is survived by his parents; his daughter, Bianca Richards, of Traverse City; a brother, Eric (Terri Danielson), of Mesa, Ariz.; an uncle, Greg Dick of Ionia; aunts Yvette Wigman-Childers, of Honolulu, Hawaii, Shirley Wigman, of Pinckney, and Julie (Phil) Case, of Kingsley; and several cousins. Shane was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bruce and Geraldine Dick, of Interlochen, and Norbert and Erma Wigman, of Traverse City; and an uncle, Bradley Wigman, of Pinckney.The family wants to extend its gratitude and appreciation to Shane's friends for their care and compassion in recent months.A service to celebrate Shane's life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 18, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City, with visitation one hour prior.
