Sharon Jean Wheelock left this world on March 23rd, 2021 after a brief battle with COVID 19. She was born on April 3rd, 1956 just minutes before her twin sister and was a lifelong resident of Traverse City.
Sharon dedicated her life to caring for others, professionally as a nursing assistant for over 30 years and as a dedicated wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She loved her family above all else and nothing made her smile more than hugging her grandchildren or laughing in the sun with her siblings.
She was a lifelong member of St Francis Church, attend St Francis High School, and married her husband Randal Wheelock in that same church in 1980. Her faith drew her to sing in the church choir and to be of service to the church community.
She has joined in heaven her parents, Mary Jane and John Geroy; her parent in-laws Addison and Bonny Wheelock; her sister Sally Cook; brother Steven Geroy and his wife Lillian; brother Allen Geroy and his wife Deloris; and her beloved twin sister Sharry Hirtreiter, who was lost just days before.
She leaves behind her husband Randal Wheelock; daughters Haven Wheelock and Amber (John) Hale; Sister Suellen (Gerald) Cook; Brother in-law Owen Cook; Brother in-law James Hirtreiter; Brother in-law Addison Wheelock Jr. and his wife Jamie; grandchildren Caroline and Ryan Quandt, Addison, Carl, Kairi and Steven Hale; 11 nieces and nephews and 15 great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her greatly.
The family would like to remind people that the COVID 19 pandemic is still with us and they encourage all to continue to take precautions to prevent the spread. Wearing masks, keeping physical distance and getting vaccinations can prevent others from feeling the hurt this family feels.
Visitation for family and close friends will take place on Wednesday April 7, 2021 from 5-7:30pm at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A Rosary Recitation will take place at 7:30pm. This event is webcasted, so please tune in to rjfh.tv to participate. Due to current restrictions, please be cognizant of the time you are visiting with the family, so we can ensure that everyone may safely have an opportunity. A Mass of Christian Burial taking place on Thursday April 8, 2021 at 1:00pm at St. Francis Catholic Church. Sharon's final resting place will be Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
