Sharon K. Wyn

February 22, 1940 — February 6, 2020

Sharon K. Wyn, 79, of Traverse City went to her home in heaven on February 6, 2020. She died after a three-year battle with dementia, while in the quality care of Boardman Lake Glens. We celebrate her return to wholeness in the arms of her heavenly father and surrounded by those that have gone before her.

Sharon was born on Thursday, February 22, 1940 to the late Arthur and Gladys (Schuiteman) DeKuiper in Fremont, MI.

Sharon spent her adult life in Traverse City — 42 years married to Dr. Raymond Wyn, a veterinarian, whom she lovingly cared for until he died of Parkinson disease in 2002. She bore the loss of her second born son, Mathew Wyn, who died at the age of 36 in a snowmobiling accident in 2003. Through all, she remained steadfast in her faith and shared it with many. She was a devoted reader of scripture and held those truths close to her heart. Sharon served and worshiped at Faith Reformed Church for 50 years where she enjoyed teaching and mentoring younger married women. In more recent years, chronic back pain and dementia kept her home bound.

Sharon was a gifted mother. She was always encouraging, over complimentary and supportive in all that her family endeavored. Those memories of her and the foundation of faith she established for her family will not be forgotten.

Sharon is survived and will be greatly missed by her loving and attentive friend of 17 years, Burt Chickering; her children, Tod and Sheila Wyn of Walker, Steve and Donna Robbins of Grand Rapids, Mark and Ruth Wyn of Fremont, Joe and Kristi Wyn of Hudsonville, Kimberly Wyn Dysh and Max Dysh of Niceville, FL., her 17 grandchildren; a great grandson, and her sister Marcia Roberts of Grand Rapids.

Services will be held at Faith Reformed Church, 1139 East Front Street, Traverse City, on February 22, 2020 with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM and the funeral service at 11:00 AM - Randy Burgess officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church.

"We wait in hope for the LORD; He is our help and our shield. In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, LORD, even as we put our hope in you." Psalm 33:20-22

Sharon and her family are being cared for by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
