Listen to Obituary

Shelley Marie (Antol) Miller, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions.

She was born January 2, 1961, in Sharon, Pennsylvania, to Richard and Georgiana (Spetar) Antol. Shelley grew up alongside her sisters, Sheila and Shannon, and her brother, Shawn. From an early age, it was clear that Shelley was athletic and full of energy. In 1974 when the family moved to Traverse City, it became apparent she was a standout track athlete and TC cheerleader. Shelley carried that same spark of energy and enthusiasm into her professional life working at Empire Bank, as a Flight Attendant, or administrative office personnel at Schmuckal Oil and Hallmark Construction.

She enjoyed dancing, fishing, and spending time outdoors. She would collect Petoskey Stones to glue on wooden crosses, gather wild flowers to make floral arrangements for friends and family. She also was an incredible gardener and took great pride in watching the things she planted grow. After harvesting her crop, she was always ready to share her homemade foods and fresh produce with her friends and family. Her love of backyard bonfires earned her the esteemed title ‘Wood Waster’.

Shelley was a member of several organizations in the Traverse City area, including the Eagles Club and the American Military League Club. She was also heavily involved with Bethlehem Lutheran Church and spent many hours doing God’s work, crocheting and delivering ‘prayer shawls’ for those in need. She also delivered flowers to residents at nursing homes, some of whom she never even knew, blessing them with hours of her company and shining light. She spent so much of her life making sure others knew they were loved and cared for.

Those who knew Shelley will remember her for much more than the things she enjoyed. She had a way of bringing warmth, happiness and love wherever she went. She was the light of any social gathering, and it was rare to see her without a smile on her face or a skip in her step. Her outgoing spirit, unconditional love, and ability to make people feel welcome left an impression on everyone who knew and loved her.

Family was especially important to Shelley. She cherished her children, daughter Natalee, and son Evan, and newly acquired son-in-law Damian, and she was a loving grandmother to her grandson Carter. She also had a special place in her heart for her beloved Pomeranian, Pèpè, who was her inseparable companion who would sing ‘Jingle Bells’ and ‘Mama’s Home’ alongside Shelley daily.

Shelley is survived by her parents, Richard and Georgiana Antol; her sisters, Sheila Mosley and Shannon Gibson; her brother, Shawn Antol; her daughter, Natalee (Damian) Durga; her son; Evan Miller; her grandson; Carter Durga, her God daughters, Ashley Davis, Samantha Fitzpatrick and Emma Rose Marcantoni, and her God son Hunter Antol, along with many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
