Sherry Maxine Horn

Sherry Maxine Horn, 77 of Traverse City passed away unexpectedly at home on March 28th, 2022. She was born in Traverse City on October 21, 1944, the daughter of Robert and Maxine (Wood) Donick. On August 28th,1965 she married Michael "Mike" Horn and raised two sons, Jim and Mark. Sherry spent 38 years teaching math not only to so many in the Traverse city public school system, but also had her own special touch when it came to teaching her grandchildren math before they could walk or talk. She shared many adventures with her late husband from showing Arabian horses, involvement with 4-H projects and the Northwest Michigan Fair, camping with family and friends, as well as wintering in Florida after retiring. She loved spending time with her family, always planning the next get together, whether it would be a meal, going to Moomers, the next family reunion, her special one on one Disney trips she took the grandkids, or a cooking class she took with her son and daughter in-law. Sherry enjoyed making sure her church family had sweet goodies and flowers on the church altar. She was always sharing what she could with the Baby pantry and the local food bank. Many mornings you could find her at the Civic center walking her Boston Terrier, Bobbie, who misses her dearly.
Sherry is survived by her sons and their wives, James "Jim" (Tammy) Horn, and Mark (Minako) Horn; grandchildren, Kaleb (Kelli), Austin, Kaitlyn and Bridgette Horn; great-granddaughter, Marilyn Rose Horn; sister, Susan Graham (Don); brother Robert (Debbie) Donick; sister in-laws, Karleen (Dick) Kelley, Sue (Tom) Sheffer and Diane Manville (John); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. And her beloved Boston Terrier, Bobbie.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; Robert "Bob" and Maxine Donick; husband, Mike Horn, and two infant sisters.
Visitation for Sherry will take place Thursday, April 7th, 2022 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 5-7 pm. The Funeral service will be held Friday, April 8th, 2022 at the Traverse Bay United Methodist Church, visitation from 10-11am and the Funeral service at 11am. with a luncheon to follow. Pastor Matthew Chapman will be officiating.
