Traverse City-Shirley Arvilla Lloyd, 83, a retired sales clerk of Traverse City, died early Tuesday morning, September 11, 2012, at Munson Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 31, 1929, in Flint, she was the daughter of the late Leamon E. and Alma "Reva" (Odell) Lake.
A former resident of Anchorage, Shirley returned to her native community of Traverse City and Williamsburg in 1992 to be closer to her family
.
Shirley was a long time member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church and the Traverse City Senior Center, where she participated in many dances. As hobbies, she enjoyed photo scrapbooking, decorating and serving as the family historian and record keeper. She was an amazing cook who loved to entertain. Shirley relished showering her family and friends with Birthday and Holiday Cards.
Shirley will be fondly remembered for her pleasing, pleasant and kind hearted personality. Her gentle soul will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children; daughter, Sharon Lee Shields, of WA; twin sons, Richard D. Krumm, of Buckley and Robert (Barbara) R. Krumm, of Traverse City; siblings, Francis (Joyce) Lake, of AR, Carol Krenselewski, of AK, and Larry (Sally) Lake, of Williamsburg; sister-in-law, Kathy Lake, of Williamsburg; grandchildren, Dawn (Thad) Philips, Darcy Harpp, Jeffrey (Michelle) Krumm, Angela Krumm, Michael (Jordan) Krumm and Marla Krumm; several great-grandchildren, one great great--grandchild plus another one on the way; along with many cousin, nieces and nephews and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death her son, William C. Krumm; sister, Marlene Nunley and her brothers, Raymond and Donald.
Funeral Services will be held at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 12 Noon, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Greg Wolfe will officiate.
Following cremation, burial will take place on the family lot at Circle Hill Cemetery in Williamsburg.
In remembrance of Shirley, memorials may be directed to V.F.W. Cherryland Post #2780-Auxilary or to the Fr. Fred Foundation. Envelopes may be obtained at the funeral home.
