Shirley "Shirl" Mae Lewis, 79 of Traverse City passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Mun-son Hospice House.
Shirl was born on November 8, 1937 in Traverse City to the late Russell and Violet (Sutter) Hughes.
Shirl was always a hard worker. Building a security business from the ground up and then moving into apartment rentals as an owner/manager. Shirl had great talent in turning any property into a work of art through her love of landscape and interior decorating.
Annie and Shelly were Shirl's two beloved cats that gave her great comfort during her final years.
Surviving Shirl are her sons, Devin Lewis, Tadd (Jill) Lewis; grandsons Dylan, Storm, Alex and granddaughter Alexi; a sister Paulina (Emery) Savage, and sister-in-law Hartha Hughes.
Shirl is preceded in death by her parents, brother Leonard Hughes and granddaughter Tara Lewis.
A funeral service and luncheon will be held at 11am on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral home with a visitation beginning at 10am. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Kindly share thoughts and memories with Shirl's family at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com .
