Obituary

Shirley Priest, 78, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on July 28, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Loretta Plamondon, her lifelong partner, James Burkhart, her beloved son, Kenneth Priest.

Shirley is survived by her children, Jean Case, Jennifer Case, Edward Priest, and Magnolia Cooper; cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A devoted fruit farmer, Shirley dedicated her life to the orchards of Rolling Valley Farms, finding joy in the changing seasons and the rewards of hard work. She also spent many years as a school bus driver for TCAPS, where her kindness, patience, and warm smile touched the lives of countless children and their families.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Shirley's life during visitation on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with the Rosary at 6:30 p.m., at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St. Traverse City.

A second visitation will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church of Traverse City, followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will immediately follow. For those unable to attend in person, the Mass will be livestreamed and can be viewed by visiting Immaculatetc.org/mass-livestream.

Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lake Leelanau.

Shirley will be remembered for her strength, faith, caring spirit, and devotion to her family and community. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
