Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY - Shirley Gove Reichert, 87, of Traverse City, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017. Shirley was born in Paterson, New Jersey, on October 11, 1929 to her parents Otis and Marjorie (Abbott) Gove.

Shirley was raised in Cranford, NJ. In high school she met the "love of her life", Arnold Reichert, who was also raised in Cranford. They were married on July 8, 1950 and celebrated 66 years of marriage and remained best friends.

Shirley earned a Masters Degree in Education and was employed as an elementary school teacher in Mountainside, NJ, and Coral Springs, FL for 25 years.

She was an outstanding artist and always enjoyed painting and crafts. Shirley loved to travel with Arnold. Together they made numerous tours of the U.S. in their VW Camper, to include 48 States.
She was well known for her very positive and cheerful disposition in her daily life and as a volunteer with Munson Medical Center.

Shirley is survived by her husband Arnold; a daughter, Robin (Robert) Aeschliman; sons, Scott (Carolyn) Reichert and David (Judy) Reichert; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Janet Nielsen and Phyllis Moditz; brother, Richard Gove.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A family gathering will be held at a later date and time.
